Supporting the Social Reintegration of Young Returnees
Youth & Community Development | Beni Mellal-Khenifra, Morocco
The Challenge
Young people returning to Morocco can face complex challenges as they reintegrate into their families, schools, communities, and broader social environments.
A local nonprofit organization in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region sought to better understand the experiences and needs of young returnees and strengthen its approach to supporting their social reintegration.
Saham's Role
Saham Consulting worked with the organization on a completed initiative focused on the social reintegration of young Moroccan returnees aged 13–18.
The engagement combined assessment, stakeholder engagement, training, evaluation, and program redesign recommendations.
Our Approach
Saham used a combination of qualitative research, community engagement, professional training, and program evaluation. Activities included:
- Individual interviews
- Focus groups
- Evaluation of existing approaches
- Training and knowledge sharing
- Identification of program strengths and gaps
- Development of program redesign recommendations
- A stakeholder workshop to discuss findings and recommendations
The approach placed particular emphasis on young people's experiences, local knowledge, community context, and culturally responsive practice.
