Supporting Professionals During Health Crises

International Consulting | Morocco → Democratic Republic of Congo

The Challenge

Professionals working during infectious-disease outbreaks can face extraordinary levels of uncertainty and stress. Concerns about exposure, family safety, community acceptance, hypervigilance, and loss of control can affect both personal wellbeing and professional functioning.

Organizations working in these environments need practical approaches that recognize both the professional and human dimensions of crisis work.

Saham's Role

Saham Consulting developed and delivered culturally and professionally adapted training designed to support staff working in challenging health-crisis environments.

The work drew on experience supporting healthcare professionals in Morocco during the COVID-19 pandemic and was subsequently adapted for an international humanitarian context in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Our Approach

The training addressed practical and psychological dimensions of working during a prolonged health crisis, including:

  • Managing uncertainty and stress
  • Concerns about infection and exposure
  • Family and personal safety
  • Hypervigilance and emotional strain
  • Community acceptance
  • Maintaining resilience and professional functioning
  • Practical strategies for coping with prolonged uncertainty

The approach was adapted to the language, culture, professional environment, and specific circumstances of each setting.

Impact

The work demonstrates Saham's ability to develop and adapt staff-support and professional training approaches across different countries, languages, cultures, and health-crisis environments.
